Water damage is classified into three categories. Category 1 involves clean water from a supply line or appliance. Category 2 involves grey water with some contamination such as from a washing machine or dishwasher overflow. Category 3 involves black water that is highly contaminated such as from sewage backups or floodwater. Each category requires a different level of remediation.
